Following last week’s discovery of a tiny pair of shoes hidden in the eaves of a 16th century cottage in Church Lane in Stonking, High Street resident Artimus Piles has found an old pair of underpants secreted in an outhouse at the rear of his property. He duly took them to the Stonking Museum for evaluation but was somewhat disappointed by their response.
Museum curator Horace Lickspittle : “I’m afraid I had to tell him that I doubted they were of much historic value : I don’t believe they had Y-fronts back in the nineteenth century.”
Do you get many odd items brought to you in the Museum?
“An old woman brought in a petrified banana once. Judging from her appearance I could see what petrified it!”
